US Companies Added 98,000 Jobs in June, ADP Data Show
US private-sector job creation was solid again in June, capping the best three-month stretch for hiring in more than a year.
Company payrolls rose by 98,000 after a 122,000 increase in the prior month, according to ADP Research data out Wednesday. The median estimate in a Bloomberg survey of economists called for a 120,000 increase.
Europe:
Euro-Zone Inflation Slows More Than Expected as Oil Retreats
Euro-area inflation eased more than anticipated as efforts toward peace in the Middle East sent global oil prices lower.
Consumer prices rose 2.8% from a year ago in June, down from 3.2% the previous month, Eurostat said Wednesday. That’s less than the 3% median estimate in a Bloomberg survey.
Asia:
China’s Factories Cap Best Quarter Since 2020, Survey Shows
China’s manufacturing sector capped its strongest quarter in almost six years, a private gauge suggests, even as growth eased slightly in June and the underlying economy remains fragile.
The RatingDog China manufacturing purchasing managers index slipped last month to 51.7 from 51.8 in May. While short of the median forecast, it brought the average for the last three months to 51.9, the highest since the fourth quarter of 2020.
