Food Prices Ease in June as Focus Shifts From War to Crops
Global food prices edged lower as a ceasefire between the US and Iran reduced concerns of further disruptions to supply chains.
The United Nations’ index of food-commodity prices fell 0.3% in June from the previous month, led by grains and sugar, according to a Friday report from the Food and Agriculture Organization.
Europe:
UK Firms Expect to Raise Prices 4% Even as Inflation Falls
UK companies became more optimistic about inflation in June, even as they plan to raise their own prices by 4% in the coming year — double the Bank of England’s CPI target.
The BOE’s Decision Maker Panel showed firms see consumer prices rising 3.3% in the next 12 months, down from an expectation of 3.7% in May.

Japan’s 2026 Wage Talks End in Third Year of Gains Above 5%
Japan’s annual wage negotiations concluded with average pay gains topping 5% for a third year, underscoring the economy’s resilience and reinforcing the Bank of Japan’s stance to keep raising interest rates.
Workers at 5,368 companies affiliated with Rengo, the country’s largest labor union group, secured an average wage increase of 5.01%, according to the group’s final tally released Friday.
