US Jobless Claims Little Changed Last Week Amid Low Layoffs
Applications for US unemployment benefits were little changed last week, signaling layoffs remain limited.
Initial claims decreased by 2,000 to 215,000 in the week ended July 4, a period that included the Independence Day holiday. The median forecast in a Bloomberg survey of economists called for 217,000 applications.

German Exports Unexpectedly Increase as US Sales Rebound
German exports unexpectedly rose in May, extending their run of growth to a fourth straight month thanks to a sharp rebound in shipments to the US.
Sales to Germany’s largest-trading partner jumped 23.1% from April, while those to China increased 7.1%, the statistics office said Thursday.

IMF Raises S. Korea Growth Most Among Major Economies on AI Boom
South Korea’s growth outlook received the biggest upgrade among the world’s 30 major economies in the International Monetary Fund’s latest projections, adding to evidence that the country’s artificial intelligence-driven semiconductor boom is overpowering the economic hit from the Middle East conflict.
The IMF raised its 2026 growth forecast for South Korea to 2.6% from 1.9% projected in April, while upgrading its 2027 estimate to 2.5% from 2.1%.
