The euro area’s annual inflation rate was 2.8% in June 2026, down from 3.2% in May 2026. A year earlier, the rate was 2.0%. Similarly, annual inflation in the European Union fell to 2.9% in June 2026, compared with 3.3% in May 2026. A year earlier, the rate stood at 2.3%.
Sweden recorded the lowest annual inflation rate (1.0%), followed by Czechia (1.1%) and Denmark (1.8%). The highest annual rates were observed in Romania (9.2%), Lithuania (5.4%), and Bulgaria (5.2%). Compared with May 2026, annual inflation fell in twenty-two Member States, remained stable in three, and increased in two.
In June 2026, services contributed the most to the annual euro area inflation rate (+1.51 percentage points), followed by energy (+0.77 pp), food, alcohol and tobacco (+0.29 pp), and non-energy industrial goods (+0.18 pp).
