US Companies Added 44,000 Jobs in July, ADP Data Show
US companies added fewer jobs in July than expected, suggesting some cooling in hiring momentum after a recent stretch of solid gains.
Private payrolls rose 44,000 — the least since the start of the year — after a revised 95,000 increase in the prior month, according to ADP Research data out Wednesday.

UK in Longest Jobs Slump Since Financial Crisis, PMI Shows
Britain’s two-year jobs market downturn has lasted as long as the slump seen during the global financial crisis as firms cut costs and turn to artificial intelligence, according to a closely watched survey.
S&P’s purchasing managers’ index showed services firms and employers across the wider private sector reducing headcount for a 22nd straight month in July.

Japan’s Nominal Wages Rise Again, Backing BOJ Rate Hike Case
Japanese wage growth remained firm on the back of solid corporate earnings and a tight labor market, bolstering the case for another Bank of Japan interest rate hike in coming months.
Nominal wages climbed 3.4% in June from a year earlier, following a revised 3.3% increase in May, the labor ministry reported Wednesday.
