US AI Boom Needs $110 Billion of New Power Plants, Moody’s Says
America’s data center boom will need $110 billion to build 45 gigawatts of new power generation through 2030, according to an analysis by Moody’s Ratings.
The vast majority of that new supply, more than 30 gigawatts, will come from natural gas-fired units and represents about 4 billion cubic feet of incremental gas supply, according to a report Monday.

Germany is preparing a far-reaching package of economic-security measures to shield strategic industries from China that may include new tariffs on hybrid electric vehicles.
German ministries are mapping vulnerabilities to China and assessing countermeasures, with potential proposals including new tariffs, mandatory joint ventures, strengthened inbound and outbound investment screening and a bolstered export controls regime, according to people familiar with the plans.

China’s Credit Expansion Misses Forecast as Loan Demand Sags
China’s credit expansion fell well short of expectations in August from a year ago, as subdued borrowing by households and businesses outweighed the support from government bond sales.
Aggregate financing, a broad measure of credit, increased 1.66 trillion yuan ($247 billion) last month, according to Bloomberg calculations based on data released by the People’s Bank of China on Monday.
