The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index is extending its advance into a fourth week to notch a nearly 3% gain in the period — its longest winning streak since early 2025.

Bank of Spain Raises Inflation Forecasts on Higher Energy Prices
Spain’s central bank increased its inflation forecast, underscoring how the economy is experiencing stronger pressures than in the wider euro area.
Consumer-price growth will reach 3.9% this year, 0.3 percentage point above the June forecast, according to projections published Friday in Madrid. Across the euro zone, inflation is projected at 3% in 2026.

Japan’s Household Spending Falls Again Despite Wage Gains
Japan’s household spending fell for a ninth month even as wages continued to climb, showing consumers remain cautious as persistent inflation squeezes purchasing power.
Outlays by households adjusted for inflation declined 3.1% in August from a year earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications reported Friday.
