Unaudited financials for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026:
RADIO JAMAICA LIMITED (RJR) for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, reported a 9% decrease in revenue totaling $1.04 billion compared to $1.15 billion in the corresponding three months last year.
Year to date, Direct expenses amounted to $537.67 million (2025: $543.02 million), this represents a decrease of 1% year over year. Consequently, gross profit decreased by 16% to $505.70 million compared to $605.31 million for the first quarter ended June 30, 2025.
Administration expenses decreased by 11% to close at $331.66 million (2025: $370.93 million), while Selling expenses decreased by 2% from $225.87 million in 2025 to $220.29 million for the three months. Additionally, Other operating expenses decreased by 2% to $202.13 million (2025: $205.90 million). As a result, Total Expenses for the first quarter amounted to $754.08 million, a 6% decrease relative to $802.71 million reported in 2025.
Operating Loss for the three months amounted to $231.20 million, a 36% increase relative to the operating loss of $169.40 million reported in 2025, as the revenue decline outpaced the cost reductions. Finance Costs totaled $33.47 million, a 32% increase from the corresponding period last year (2025: $25.41 million).
Loss before taxation for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, amounted to $264.66 million, a 36% increase relative to the loss of $194.81 million reported in 2025.
No tax credit was recognized for the three months (2025: tax credit of $14.36 million). Net Loss for the three months amounted to $264.66 million, a 47% increase from the $180.46 million reported in 2025. Net loss attributable to shareholders amounted to $264.27 million for the three months ended June 30, 2026 (2025: $177.02 million).
Consequently, Loss Per Share for the three months amounted to $0.09 (2025: LPS: $0.06). The twelve-month trailing LPS was $0.33 and the number of shares used in these calculations was 3,023,506,931. Notably, RJR’s stock price closed the trading period on September 14, 2026 at a price of $1.11.
Balance Sheet Highlights
The company’s assets totalled $5.55 billion (March 2026: $5.10 billion). The movement in total assets was primarily influenced by a 41% increase in ‘Receivables’ amounting to $1.32 billion (March 2026: $936.55 million) and a 231% increase in ‘Inventories’ amounting to $118.62 million (March 2026: $35.81 million), together with a 29% increase in ‘Cash and short-term investments’ to $281.12 million (March 2026: $218.12 million); these were partly offset by lower fixed assets, intangibles and right-of-use assets.
Shareholder’s equity was $2.24 billion (March 2026: $2.51 billion), representing a book value per share of $0.74 (March 2026: $0.83).
