SJ reports 76% increase in year end net profit attr. to shareholders

Audited financials for the year ended December 31, 2025:

Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited (SJ) for the year ended December 31, 2025, reported a 11% increase in Insurance revenue totaling $60.27 billion compared to $54.53 billion in the corresponding period last year. Insurance revenue for the fourth quarter had an 8% increase to close at $16.03 billion compared to $14.90 billion for the comparable quarter of 2024.

Insurance service expenses amounted to $65.62 billion (2024: $44.56 billion), this represents an increase of 47% year over year, while Reinsurance contracts held resulted in an income of $18.13 billion in 2025, relative to expenses of $3.74 billion last year. Consequently, Insurance service result increased by 105% to $12.77 billion compared to $6.24 billion for the year ended December 31, 2024. The company booked insurance service result of $3.56 billion for the fourth quarter versus $1.65 billion reported for the similar quarter of 2024.

Net investment income increased by 29% from $27.90 billion in 2024 to $35.89 billion in the period under review, while Net insurance expenses amounted to $12.85 billion (2024: $8.28 billion). As a result, net insurance and investment result for the year ended December 31, 2025, amounted to $35.81 billion, a 38% increase relative to $25.86 billion reported in 2024.

Fees and other revenue for the year ended December 31, 2025, amounted to $20.24 billion, an 8% increase relative to $18.70 billion reported in 2024.

Administration expenses totalled $31.64 billion, a 12% increase from the corresponding period last year. (2024: $28.36 billion).

Profit before taxes for the year ended December 31, 2025, amounted to $21.75 billion, a 66% increase relative to $13.10 billion reported in 2024. Profit before taxes for the fourth quarter amounted to $4.02 billion (2024: $3.81 billion).

Income taxes for the year ended December 31, 2025, had a 31% increase to reach $5.30 billion (2024: $4.05 billion). As such, Net Income for the year amounted to $16.44 billion, an 82% increase from the $9.05 billion reported in 2024. For the fourth quarter, Net Income was $3.04 billion (2024: $2.37 billion).

Net profit attributable to shareholders amounted to $16.22 billion, (2024: $9.24 billion).

Consequently, Earnings Per Share for the year amounted to $4.15 (2024: EPS: $2.37), while Earnings Per Share for the quarter totaled $0.77 (2024: EPS: $0.67). The twelve-month trailing EPS was $4.15, and the number of shares used in these calculations was 3,905,634,916.

Notably, SJ’s stock price closed the trading period on March 02, 2026, at a price of $40.75 with a corresponding P/E ratio of 9.81x.

Balance Sheet Highlights

The company’s assets totalled $703.60 billion (2024: $597.79 billion). The growth in total assets was influenced by primarily by increases to the following during the period: Financial Investments (+$38.38 billion), Reinsurance contracts (+$24.00 billion), Pledged assets (+$23.65 billion) and Loans (+$18.89 billion).

Shareholder’s equity was $115.05 billion (2024: $102.17 billion), representing a book value per share of $29.46 (2024: $26.16).
