Unaudited financials for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026:
Wigton Energy Limited (WIG) for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, reported a 4% decrease in sales totalling $786.19 million compared to $822.23 million in the corresponding three months last year.
Cost of Sales amounted to $279.51 million (2025: $230.48 million), which represents an increase of 21% year over year. Consequently, gross profit decreased by 14% to $506.67 million compared to $591.74 million for the first quarter ended June 30, 2025.
Other Income decreased by 68% to close at $22.02 million (2025: $68.72 million), while General Administrative Expenses increased by 8% from $228.60 million in 2025 to $246.44 million for the three months.
Consequently, Operating Profit for the three months amounted to $282.25 million, a 35% decrease relative to $431.87 million reported in 2025. Finance Expense totalled $43.15 million, a 45% decrease from the corresponding period last year. The Company also recorded a share of net loss of associate of $13.78 million (2025: $8.19 million).
Profit before taxation for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, amounted to $225.32 million, a 35% decrease relative to $345.56 million reported in 2025.
The tax charge incurred for the three months had a 35% decrease to reach $56.33 million (2025: $86.39 million). As a result, net profit for the three months decreased 35% from the $259.17 million reported in 2025, amounting to $168.99 million.
Consequently, Earnings Per Share for the three months amounted to $0.015 (2025: EPS: $0.024). The twelve-month trailing EPS was $0.011, and the number of shares used in these calculations was 11,000,000,000. Notably, WIG’s stock price closed the trading period on August 3, 2026, at $1.10 with a corresponding P/E ratio of 102.26x.
Balance Sheet Highlights
The company’s assets totalled $8.99 billion (2025: $9.85 billion). The total decline in the company’s asset base is primarily driven by an 8% YoY decline in Property, Plant & Equipment ending the quarter at $4.88 billion (2025: $5.31 billion).
Shareholders’ equity was $5.67 billion (2025: $5.58 billion), representing a book value per share of $0.52 (2025: $0.51).
